Reference List for Administrative Efficiencies |
The Efficiencies Committee explores ways to save money and get the most out of resources. After surveying the membership, it developed a listing of common operating activities and cost centers, and identifies COAE members who have had either a positive or a negative experience with improving that area. The list is regularly updated. The committee also sponsors annual updates on health insurance trends and explores other areas of potential savings for agencies. |

Member Benefits
The COAE List Server is the chief artery of communication among members. All general meeting notices and announcements are sent via the List Server. Members use it to solicit information from their colleagues, to circulate staff openings, and to make announcements. Members are placed on the List Server upon joining. |

COAE List Serve |
Council meetings are the third Thursday of every other month, from 8:00—9:30 a.m. The first fifteen minutes are dedicated to informal networking. Following a brief business segment, there is a program. A speaker may be featured, or a community leader may address the members regarding issues of the day. There is always time for questions and comments. Members are encouraged to recommend program topics and speakers. |
Council Meetings |
Roundtables are offered on management-related topics such as board development, recruitment of staff, branding and strategic planning. Roundtables are free to COAE members and the key staff they may choose to bring or send. Members are encouraged to suggest topics and speakers for Roundtables. |
Roundtables/Seminars |
A Member Directory is given to every member and updated at least every six months. It contains the contact information for each COAE member. Members are encouraged to tap into each other’s knowledge and experience. |

Best Practices Promotion |
The COAE promotes continuous improvement as a process and a style of management. Toward this end, COAE encourages each member to conduct a comprehensive self-assessment to identify opportunities for improvement in his/her agency. The Council offers a self-assessment tool, along with advice and assistance from experienced users of the tool. The COAE is one of several partners promoting the Greater Rochester Quality Council’s Rapid Cycle Initiative. Trained volunteer coaches guide an agency team through a very specific three-month process that identifies efficiencies. |
